This is a fun place to have dinner. With the hibachi flat top chef entertaining everyone, it's easy to get distracted and not notice how good the food is. Don't be shy if you're dining as a couple, because they sit you with others to give that shared community feeling. Everything from the flipping shrimp into guests mouths, to banging the drum for people having birthday celebrations make for an entertaining night. Can't wait to come back!

A FUN & TASTY MEAL! - Grandson Noah's Birthday Meal at the Tokyo Japanese Steak House in Kansas City, Missouri Today. Great Food, Service and Prices as Usual. We all drank water, so we kept it affordable even with a 20% Tip. Great place on Barry Road.

This was my first visit to Tokyo Japanese Steakhouse. We met family here for an after Christmas get together. There was 8 of us with 2 kiddos. Let me preface my review with that I love Japanese steakhouses! I'll cut through the chase, I loved the food. They took our drink/dinner orders and shortly returned with our soup. It was exactly what I expected, broth with a few veggies. Next, they brought out some shrimp. It was tasty too. My husband and I both ordered shrimp and scallops. We were both pleased with our meals. It also came with veggies, rice, and noodles. This was the first Japanese steakhouse that I've been to that included noodles. This was a nice touch. The service was okay but a little rushed. The grill master went through the motions but he didn't really engage with us. It was okay but I wish it was a little more entertaining for the kiddos. They sat us next to an empty room and there was like cold air coming in through there. I was cold through the whole meal. I removed one star for 1) the rushed service 2) lacking engagement 3) being cold. Saying this, I really did enjoy the food. Overall, I was pleased with dinner and will be back. Food = 5 Facility = 3 Service = 3 Ambiance = 3 Value = 4
